On top of that, it is also a highly <b>symbolic place<\/b> to live: a space where men and gods meet. There must be a reason why about 50% of the population still live in them. Read on further to grasp a little about this humble yet critical habitat of the nomads.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-255551c elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"255551c\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-22e3670\" data-id=\"22e3670\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-872d51d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"872d51d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><b>What makes a Ger?<\/b><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3a4a889 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3a4a889\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>On Mongolian lands, where the thermal amplitude is considerably huge, between -35\u00b0C degrees in winter and sometimes 40\u00b0C degrees in summer, the accurate choice of materials to keep warm\/cool is of paramount importance.<\/p><p>The majority of Mongolian landscapes are bare lands, thus large wood is rather rare, and it was necessary for nomads to conceive a <b>light<\/b>, <b>transportable<\/b> architecture. In the center of the construction the roof or\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">crown <\/span>is placed on two columns, then a bundle of straight wood is put between the crown and wall, which gives the ger its frame. After the assembly is done, all that\u00a0remains is to cover it.\u00a0<\/p><p>As for the covers, nomads used what they could obtain best &#8211; <b>felt <\/b>&#8211; the wool of the herd.\u00a0\u00a0On the frame, two long covers of felt is unfolded on top of\u00a0and around the ger; one or more layers depending on the season. The crown is also covered by a separate, smaller cover, which is used to fold open to let light in and close shut during rain or snow. At the end, everything is then kept in place with tightened ropes around the yurt. Once inside, the room can be seen neatly organized around the fireplace in the center.\u00a0For Mongolians, fire is one of the sacred elements and is considered a link between earth and sky, thus deeply respected. To keep the fire separate from the ground, traditionally, three stones are placed on the bottom of the stove.<\/p><p style=\"color: #7a7a7a; text-align: start;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; text-align: justify;\">The <b>East <\/b>side,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; text-align: justify;\">under the protection of the sun, is\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; text-align: justify;\">the side of the wife, women and children. This side is where the family belongings are located: the kitchen and utensils are put closer to the door, then\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; text-align: justify;\">further in\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; text-align: justify;\">the parents bed is located, at the foot of which the children sleep.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p style=\"color: #7a7a7a; text-align: start;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; text-align: justify;\">The <b>West <\/b>side, protected by the sky, is the side of man or head of house. Here&#8217;s where the saddle and bridles of horses are stored.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-align: justify; color: #000000;\">This is where the head of family usually sits, while observing the outside and the herds straight through the door.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"color: #7a7a7a; text-align: start;\"><span style=\"text-align: justify; color: #000000;\">Finally, facing the door, the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-align: justify; color: #000000;\"><b>North side\u00a0<\/b>is considered a place of sacred space. Here, the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-align: justify; color: #000000;\">altars to the gods, pictures of ancestors,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-align: justify; color: #000000;\">precious items,<\/span><span style=\"text-align: justify; color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-align: justify; color: #000000;\">official awards, musical instruments and weapons<\/span><span style=\"text-align: justify; color: #000000;\">\u00a0are placed. These 5 sons then continued the Golden Lineage in the Mongol people, from which the famous <b>Chinggis Khaan<\/b> was born out of.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000; text-align: justify;\">The Mongols have always considered yurts as the sacred link between\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">heaven<\/span>,\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">earth\u00a0<\/span>and their\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">ancestors<\/span>. Through the opening on the roof, the vastness of the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-align: justify; color: #000000;\">Tengri, &#8220;sky and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; text-align: justify;\">cosmos&#8221; in mongolian, and the force of the sky penetrates.
